You may have noticed last month when #theimperfectboss campaign broke the internet - and that's because it was so wildly epic. Seeing women come together to break open the myth of perfection and send a message that being in business doesn't demand that you are flawless. It simply demands that you own who you are.
I could not be more excited to introduce you to Ashley Beaudin from Fire & Wind co today - she lives that beautiful message.
Time and time again, Ashley encourages women to show their heart, transform their fears, and embrace every part of who they are. She's basically the best kind of cheerleader anyone could have by their side. From hosting twitter chats and online campaigns to her own offerings - it's all about connecting and coming together. What's not to love?
Dive on in - I know you'll love reading Ashley's insights:
Tell us more about you: who are you and what are you all about? (Your story, your truth)
Hi! I am Ashley and I am a big encourager, visionary and wild heart. I work with women to help them use their heart and vision to stand out and lead to build a brand of influence. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of women to change the world. Hands down.
What does living life on your own terms mean to you?
Living life on my own terms means approaching everything I do out of an expression of freedom and conviction. If it doesn't align, doesn't sit well, doesn't make me alive on the inside -- not doing it. If it makes me more free, makes me more alive, makes me feel good in the work that I am doing, then hell yes!
Share with us a personal challenge that you’ve had to overcome and what limiting beliefs you had to break down along the way.
I would say that my biggest challenge has always come down to personal value and worth. When I started in business, I began to realize just how much that connects into my work. I've undercut my own success by using discounts, self-sabotaging, and engaging in stuff that makes me feel junkie. I am not there yet, but the key for me comes down to consistently facing my pain and challenging anything that doesn't make me feel nourished and alive.
When life gets hectic and overwhelming, what do you do to feel more grounded and balanced?
I am a big fan of connection, so I will go after quality connection with a friend or my sister. I will sometimes allow myself to unplug entirely. And sometimes I just speak affirmations and truths over my life, that I am loved, I am safe, I am worthy.
When it comes to creating change in your life, what does putting it into action look like for you? (And how do you handle when/ if resistance pops up?)
For me, it always starts with the inner work. It starts with digging into my fears, facing the heartache, pulling at the roots of why I believe what I believe. If I don't start there, any effort of change is only temporary. Resistance is real and when it comes up, I have to go back to that same place.
What are the top two nuggets of wisdom or advice you would give to someone?
My top two would be this:
1. Embrace your imperfection. Because even the things you try and hide are an invitation of connection for someone else.
2. If it is in you, you have all that you need to make it happen. Nothing missing.
What is one quote that really resonates with you, or that you choose to live life by?
"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles just to watch you burn." It has been my life quote for the last ten years.
RAPID FIRE Q's:
I can’t go a day without…a soda and practicing encouragement.
Following the trail of my curiosities means…doing things I dream about even without the success guarantee.
When I feel fear…I often freeze if I don't take the time to nurture my own heart.
I feel joyful when…I am around bright colours or the ocean and spending time with amazing people.
I’m most grateful for…people who take their crazy dreams and use them to change the world.
