Imagine for a moment, slipping your headphones onto your ears and within seconds, being whisked away to instant place of calm and relaxation. Feeling your mind gently slow down, and the inner chatter come to a halt, opening the path to... you. Feeling more connected than ever to yourself - your inner wisdom, the world around you, what really matters.
When I first discovered Tahlee Rouillon's meditones a few years ago, I was blown away. I'll be the first to admit that meditation never came effortlessly for me - and having this incredible support at my fingertips? At any moment throughout the day? It was truly a gift.
In her own words, "when you transform your brain to be more peaceful, you feel connected. And when you feel connected, you can more easily and gracefully help others. And when you’re being of service, the whole world benefits."
There's no question about it: Tahlee is offering peace seekers an easy way to achieve inner peace. She answered the call to do her soul's work and is continuously rising to the occasion. If you haven't already acquainted yourself with Tahlee and her work - prepare to be inspired:
Tell us more about you: who are you and what are you all about? (Your story, your truth)
I’m Tahlee. A music mistress, science geek, happy mutant and transformation addict. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted people to hear my music and be moved. To feel connected, to feel good, to heal.
I believe that inner peace equals global peace. I believe that we are all here for connection. And what causes suffering (from internal to global) is the sense of separation.
After living life as a music brat through my teens and twenties, I abandoned my soul work to pursue a life of financial stability. I had huge limiting beliefs around my ability to make music on my own (without a band or musical partner) and I was convinced I couldn’t make a living out of it. I was tired of being a starving artist, but by turning my back on music, now my soul was starved.
For four years, I didn’t write a single note of music while I tried on a range of different career hats - Environmental Project Manager, Personal Trainer, Body Love Coach. But always at the back of my mind, pulling at me, calling to me, was music.
Finally, one day I offered to write some personalised meditation music for some coaching clients. Writing music again was like coming home to an old friend. My clients loved it, I loved it - and one track became the seed for Allied Forces - still the most popular meditones album to date.
After that I was hooked. I wanted to close my coaching business down and begin doing full time music again. But then, heartbreakingly, my partner of 12 years and I broke up. I was so lost and empty, I didn’t know what to do.
Like all dark nights of the soul, there is pure gold to be found within all the lessons. This painful transition honed my spiritual practice, and beautifully guided me back home to myself. I trusted in my intuition again and launched Sonesence. And I haven’t looked back. Life showed me that when I trust it, good things happen. That when I live in my zone of genius, I and everyone around me benefits.
What does living life on your own terms mean to you?
It means I get to live in my zone of genius and be of deep service. Every day, people tell me that meditones have helped them heal in some way. That they’ve had the best sleep in months, that they feel more relaxed, they’ve given birth with calm, dropped addiction and come home to themselves. This is deeply humbling work and I’m beyond grateful that I can do it full time.
For those of us who aren't already familiar with your gorgeous meditones - what are they? How do they work? And who would meditones be beneficial for?
Meditones are the catalyst of peace you’ve been craving. They effortlessly transform your brain by directly stimulating relaxed brainwaves with a pair of headphones.
Meditones are precisely tuned frequencies of sound, that when heard with headphones, guide your brain into effortless relaxation and deep meditation. Science boffins call them ‘binaural beats’. But all you need to remember is that they make transformation effortless.
Meditones are perfect for beginners and experienced meditators alike.
If you have difficulty meditating, meditones help you still your mind effortlessly. However, meditones also enhance traditional meditative practices such as mindfulness, pranayama, TM and Vipassana - taking you deeper than ever before.
The only people who meditones aren’t beneficial for, unfortunately, are people with epilepsy.
Share with us a personal challenge that you’ve had to overcome and what limiting beliefs you had to break down along the way.
I had huge limiting beliefs around my ability to make money as a musician. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d be able to live full time off my soul work.
To make enough money, I thought I needed to be a coach. I struggled immensely to gain coaching clients, feeling frustrated and jealous of all the other coaches who were fully booked and an “overnight success”.
Meanwhile, the meditones albums I had put up on my website (on a bit of whim) were flying off the shelf. It was only after a number of other wellness entrepreneurs asked me if I would write some music for them that I realised I had been paying attention to the wrong thing.
Coaching was *not* my zone of genius. Music was.
Thanks to some incredibly supportive friends, my beautiful family, kinesiology, a few fabulous self help books, and a lot of meditating - I committed to living in my zone of genius. I closed my coaching business and launched Sonesence. She was a big hit and we’ve never looked back.
When life gets hectic and overwhelming, what do you do to feel more grounded and balanced?
I listen to meditones - haha! 😃
But seriously, I’ve been using meditones for decades now and I’m still in awe that they can guide me back to a place of peace and calm so effortlessly.
When it comes to creating change in your life, what does putting it into action look like for you? (And how do you handle when/ if resistance pops up?)
Gosh, I feel like I’m the queen of change these days 😀 I've had so many transitions - changing careers, getting divorced, moving house 4 times in one year (including moving interstate) plus living overseas. Phew! All these transitions led me to create my very own framework to gracefully manage change called The Gentle Transition.
Putting change into action doesn’t just require planning and methodical action towards your goal - it requires emotional and spiritual support too. I make sure that I’m grounded and my nervous system is secure, I engage in gentle rituals like meditation and journaling to support my wellbeing, and of course talking through fears and challenges with trusted friends is vital.
Resistance is crafty and can come up in a few ways. When I’m feeling resistance towards something, I have to check in with my body to find out exactly what it is. Is it actually depletion? If so, I rest. Is it fear around visibility or speaking my truth? If so, I quiet the Inner Critic and amplify my Inner Mentor. Is it resistance because the task is tedious? I put on a timer for 20 minutes and commit to the task until the time is up.
What are the top two nuggets of wisdom or advice you would give to someone?
Practice meditation and befriend yourself! There are so many tools to help you. Of course, I love meditones - but any type of meditation is worthwhile. Let go of shame, self doubt, and self criticism and replace them with kind thoughts, an open heart and self compassion. Talk to yourself like you would a best friend, get still and learn to trust that quiet voice inside you. Meditation and self love will change your life in countless positive ways.
